High-Key
These portraits have been made on black and white film through the analogic technique. The author himself has printed these photos on chemical photo paper after shooting them with a medium sized camera. The high key technique relies on the expressive potential of bright tones, ranging from white to grey ones, and aims to highlight all shapes through graceful light and shade effects. It’s based on the combination among exposure times, printing times and some particular film and photographic paper development procedures. All visages stand out against a milky-white background through soft contrasts, while profiles shade off and volumes flatten into softened and light effects.
