Marco Appugliese

Biography
I've been working professionally in photography since I was 17, when I began apprenticing at a photography studio in Rome, the city where I was born and live. I initially learned film development and black-and-white printing techniques; then, working as a photographer's assistant, I began to delve deeper into photographic techniques. After completing my university studies, I began to delve into a more artistic aspect of photography, undertaking personal research into technical and expressive techniques. In 1993, I presented black-and-white slides, created using a process I developed, at multimedia concerts. Since then, I've begun exhibiting in solo shows both in Italy and abroad. My favorite themes, which most inform my projects and personal research, are portraiture, the female figure, and stage photography. I also study rayograms in the darkroom. I continue to experiment with new techniques and lighting schemes, particularly in the studio, in both black-and-white and color photography.
For a few years I have also been involved in video shooting, making short films and music videos.
